Silicone joints

Silicone seals connect adjoining parts, for example around a bath or between a worktop and a wall. Separation, cracks and marked discolouration deserve a closer look. The existing condition and adjoining materials determine what should happen next.

Show the whole connection

Photograph the shower, bath or kitchen as a whole and add close-ups. Include approximate joint length and show whether the seal is separating on one or both sides. Material details are especially useful for natural stone, acrylic and coated surfaces.

Define the renewal work

The scope may include removing the existing seal, preparing the connection surfaces and installing a suitable new joint. Additional substrate work is assessed at the property. Agree the colour, visible joint line and room-use arrangements.

After the work

The time before reuse depends on the selected product and site conditions. Ask for use and care instructions for the actual installation. Keep observing changes in heavily used joints.
